Having been raised in WV, both Pastor Ryan and Aubrey are familiar with the issues that affect this state and this area. God allowed them their paths to cross in late 2000 and after marriage and children they served for almost 10 years at Victory Baptist Church in Staunton, VA. Upon leaving Victory they planted Temple Baptist Church in Aubrey’s hometown of Wellsburg in the northern panhandle. Through much counsel, prayer, and burden, God led them and their family to Calvary in March 2015. We are near the Lord’s return, and have little time to impact our generation. In this age, our and country need more of the Gospel, and especially more of Jesus Christ. With their children Brenna (12), Reece (9) and their 5 year old twin boys, Pastor Ryan and Aubrey look forward to the future God has for them at Calvary Baptist Church.

Our Church

Welcome to Calvary Baptist Church. We are so glad that you have visited our page. Please allow me to tell you a little about our church. Calvary Baptist Church is an independent, fundamental, Baptist church following after Christ in the hills of West Virginia, about 30 miles north of Beckley.  Our church loves to serve the Lord and reach our community with the gospel of Jesus Christ.  We believe that the church is the body of Jesus Christ and was organized to reach all ages, nationalities, and personalities. We are a family oriented church, with ministries aimed at each age group, and endeavoring to help families to grow together.  The great desire of our church is to uplift the name of Jesus Christ, to act as a safe harbor in this sinful world, and to encourage and strengthen the brethren.

We are Independent

This simply means we are self-governing and self-ruling.  We believe that our headquarters is in heaven and Christ is the originator of our faith. Further, we receive no financial assistance from outside sources support missionaries that have been approved by our church. We believe that autonomy began with Christ and his disciples and we follow his teachings.

We are also Fundamental

This is not a radical viewpoint. We believe in sticking to the word of God as our authority. The fundamentals of the faith have been passed down from generation to generation beginning with Paul writing to Timothy and continuing until now.
